You can see the massive difference in the quality of the stone above, with the PC version looking far less detailed. The PS5 version looks like it prioritizes textures closer to the camera and uses an enhanced version of those textures. The PC version looks worse at first glance. I also kept the game on the Standard graphics preset, which brought up some interesting differences between the PC and PS5 versions. In place of the dynamic resolution in the PS5 version, I used AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2) for the Performance and Ray Tracing comparisons. You can watch the video above to see how it stacks up overall. This machine is more expensive than a PS5, but it’s around the same power. Forspoken: PC versus PS5įor testing, I used a PC equipped with a Ryzen 5 5600X and AMD RX 6600 XT graphics card. Instead, it just outputs a 120Hz signal and uses that to achieve 40 fps in the Quality and Ray Tracing modes (usually unsuccessfully). This limits the resolution, but the game doesn’t actually reach 120 fps. Outside of the quality modes, Forspoken also includes a 120Hz mode, but it’s a bit deceptive. This is by far the weakest mode, not only because of the aggressive upscaling, but also because of the minimal visual impact of ray tracing in Forspoken (more on that in the next section). In particular, the Ray Tracing mode has some significant artifacts as it tries to reconstruct a 4K image. These resolution differences can have a big impact on the look of the game, too. It hovers between 4K and 1440p, with Performance mode going closer to 1440p and Quality mode closer to 4K. Finally, Performance mode attempts to lock the game to 60 fps, occasionally dipping to around 55 fps, and lowers the resolution and draw distance.įor resolution, the game uses dynamic resolution to attempt to keep the frame rate consistent. Ray Tracing also has a variable frame rate that hovers around 30 fps and includes ray-traced shadows, but not ambient occlusion or reflections. Quality has a variable frame rate that never went below 30 frames per second (fps) in my testing. Starting with the PS5 version, you have access to three performance modes: Quality, Performance, and Ray Tracing. It was originally slated for May 2022 but it was delayed to further polish and improve the game.Forspoken PS5 Quality vs. A regular SSD might not compete with the load times of the PS5 version but an M.2 SSD can come quite close to it.įorspoken will launch on October 11, 2022, for PC and PS5. Microsoft has also helped with the development of the PC version with the Direct Storage support. The PS5 and PC versions also support AMD FSR technology which will help with performance. The technical director for Luminous Engine also mentions how the PC version will have multiple graphics modes to enable the game to run on a variety of PC hardware. With a PC equipped with the M.2 SSD, players will be able to enjoy gameplay without having to worry about load times on both PS5 and PC. PS5 boasts incredibly fast load times due to the dedicated hardware. These will offer better performance while sacrificing some visual fidelity. There are different modes available in the game including a Quality Mode and a Native 4K mode. The PC and PS5 versions will also benefit from the AMD FSR 2.0 implementation. Compared to the PS5, the PC version can have load times as long as 2 to 22 seconds depending on the hardware. The load times are so fast that they barely last a second. In the case of the PS5, they have extremely fast load times thanks to the M.2 SSD in the PS5 console. During GDC 2022, Luminous Engine’s technical director gave a demonstration of some of the technologies that they have incorporated into Forspoken.Īccording to the technical director, Teppei Ono, Forspoken benefits from two key technologies on PS5 and PC.

I believe they could have had that covered with the body alone. A guard walking in your direction and you have to put your blade away after a kill, then also make his body disappear. So they are kind of double dipping with detection here. You also get a skill early on that lets you consume the bodies into darkness (make them vanish). It isn’t upsetting that it adds a delay for nearby enemies to discover you, it’s upsetting because it’s boring having to wait every single stealth kill. When you kill someone, you always sheath your blade and you do it very slowly. While some areas will feel consistent and you can teleport around nicely, there are too many that leave you feeling like a rookie ninja. There were several occasions I would aim up somewhere, and basically move the cursor around trying to get the icon showing that I will climb something instead of hitting my head on the ceiling (why this is an option in the first place is a mystery). Aiming the leap sometimes makes little sense when the game randomly decides to let or decline you access to an area. It causes a constant annoyance of searching for a shadow and waiting to refill. While some may argue it makes the game more difficult or interesting, it really doesn’t. This didn’t happen often, but enough to be annoying. You will sometimes get stuck in areas because there is no darkness close by to refresh your power. There is sort of a clunky feeling to the Shadow Leap technique. The shadows are not dark enough, and deeply hinder the experience. Stealth implementation: While it’s nice to see a mix of Tenchu with hints of Dishonored, the game falls short of perfecting the feeling of control. There is only one real “buff” to your character, which is a 25 percent increase to Shadow Essence recovery rate. It would have been great if there was a different button mapped for stealth non lethal based powers, but the game went with a much heavier kill based system. It might have been a better choice to let you read the tutorial before committing your scrolls, but this doesn’t prove too much of a problem because you will be upgrading all powers eventually. Once unlocked, powers will have a tutorial you can read. The abilities will carry over when you play on the various difficulty settings, which is a major plus for replaying. This makes it a breeze to try out different powers every chapter. When you collect a scroll, even if you die, it will still be saved as collected. Make sure to grab the upgrade to reveal all scrolls on the maps as soon as possible. Upgrade System/Techniques: To get upgrades, you must find scrolls hidden throughout the levels. Also you may experience a glitch where you can’t hear sound, and you must force close the game to get it back. Music is absent from the main menu screen, which is a little disappointing. There are a few hiccups while assassinating enemies, but that can be overlooked and forgiven. The sound effects are done well and add to the atmosphere. Music/Sound: Created by Two Feathers, the music channels an ancient orchestra. Luckily the game also graces us with skins to unlock that look very different from your starting outfit, and are some excellent choices in design. However, when you play the extra content Nightfall, you will enjoy new settings and environments. It’s like looking at a cute animal, but then scrolling through another 20 pictures of it in the same pose. Repetitive environments of trees, caves, and structures will soon feel uninspiring. However, the fascination will end as quick as your first stealth kill. The character model is one of the best looking ninjas you will see, with a cloak that serves are your HUD. It can be described as beautiful and is something you will instantly appreciate. The game offers cooperative play online, though you’ll likely have to find someone, as matchmaking is empty most of the time.Īrt Style: Aragami features a unique mix of cel shaded painting. There are a few plot elements I won’t reveal, but just know that you’re a ninja with powers of the dark and you will be killing a lot of people within the shadows (or avoiding them entirely if you so choose). You play as Aragami, an undead spirit who is summoned by a girl (Yamiko) that wants you to free her and her empress. Aragami is a stealth game that takes a different approach to the genre. (a Partridge Family animated spinoff), which SPT owns the rights to due to the animated series' connection to their parent shows. Television (through then-parent Time Warner's 1996 purchase of Turner Broadcasting, which had bought Hanna-Barbera in 1990), with the exceptions of Jeannie (an animated spinoff of I Dream of Jeannie) and Partridge Family: 2200 A.D. Most of Hanna-Barbera's output produced during its partnership with Screen Gems is now owned and distributed by Warner Bros. Most shows produced under the Screen Gems banner (with a few exceptions noted below) were later distributed by Colex Enterprises (a joint venture of CPT and LBS Communications) from 1984 to 1988, but are now distributed by CPT's successor-in-interest, Sony Pictures Television. The Screen Gems name was retired in 1974 by Columbia, which then renamed its TV division as Columbia Pictures Television. Screen Gems also operated as a broadcasting company through ownership of several American TV stations, including KCPX-TV (now KTVX) in Salt Lake City, Utah (1959-75) and WVUE-TV in New Orleans (1965-77). Screen Gems (and successor Columbia Pictures Television) continued syndicating the pre-1967 Hanna-Barbera shows until the mid-1970s, when Taft H-B picked up the distribution rights those were passed to Taft H-B's successor company, Worldvision Enterprises, in 1979. Hanna-Barbera became independent of Screen Gems in 1967 when Taft Broadcasting bought the studio, which then began producing and syndicating (through its distribution unit, Taft H-B Program Sales) its own output. Other shows produced by Hanna-Barbera under Screen Gems during the 1960s, both for the networks and for syndication, included The Huckleberry Hound Show, Quick Draw McGraw, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Yogi Bear Show, Top Cat, Jonny Quest, Magilla Gorilla and Peter Potamus. The first animated series to air under the H-B/Screen Gems partnership was The Ruff & Reddy Show, which debuted on NBC on December 14, 1957. Screen Gems also formed a partnership with Hanna-Barbera Productions where Screen Gems provided working capital to the animation studio to produce its TV cartoons in exchange for the distribution rights. Screen Gems syndicated the Universal Horror film package as part of a larger overall catalog of 550 Universal films which Screen Gems had acquired TV distribution rights to in 1957 for a $20,000,000, ten-year lease until the distribution rights for those films reverted to MCA Television (whose parent company MCA had purchased Universal Studios and its then-parent, the American branch of Decca Records, in 1962) when the ten-year lease period ended in 1967. It became a prominent studio beginning with the Golden Age of Television in the 1950s as it produced shows like Father Knows Best, Dennis the Menace, Route 66, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and The Partridge Family for the American networks, and it syndicated old Three Stooges theatrical shorts and Universal Studios horror films (under the title Shock for that syndicated package, made available to local TV stations for use in their locally-produced horror movie shows), leading to a revival in popularity for the Stooges and for Universal Horror (and the horror film genre in general) due to the new TV exposure. Screen Gems was subsequently revived by Columbia when it acquired Pioneer Telefilms, a company which specialized in the production of TV commercials, in 1948 and renamed and repurposed it to serve as Columbia's television production and distribution unit. The newly-renamed Screen Gems continued production of its animated shorts until Columbia closed the studio in 1946, although Screen Gems had produced enough output to allow continued new releases until 1949. Screen Gems had its pre-television origins in 1939 when Columbia Pictures purchased the Charles Mintz animation studio, which had been notable for producing animated theatrical short series such as Krazy Kat, The Fox and the Crow and Color Rhapsodies. 2 List of shows produced by Screen Gems. You can compare accidents, safety write-ups, and OSHA violations for each location. Add deeper insight into the data with a pie chart showing clustered information. You can chart the number of accidents reported at each plant and quickly identify any outliers of plants with high accident rates. Maps can also help answer questions such as, “Are manufacturing plants following safety precautions?”. By calculating each region of global sales and its percentage increase over the past year, you will be able to use a map chart with shaded distribution to identify the fastest-growing areas quickly. Use a map chart to answer questions like, “Where is our new growth coming from?”. You will also be able to spot trends and identify outliers intuitively. With data shown geographically, you can easily spot top-performing areas and compare them to the lowest performers. How a Map Can Answer Business QuestionsĪ map chart will allow you to visualize data distribution across a region in a clear and easy-to-interpret manner. Or, some tools allow you to layer on data and display categories of information across regions that will automatically adjust as a user zooms in and out on areas of the map. Maps can be as simple as markers identifying store locations. You can use it to compare how data in one region stacks up against another. Or, the values can be represented as markers with numerical values layered on top of the chart.Ī map chart is helpful when geographic context in your data is important. Each shade will correspond to a specific range of values. Once displayed, the values will be represented by varying shades of color in each region. The other column will contain the values for each region. The first column will contain the name of the state, province, or prefecture. To build a map chart, you will need at least two columns of data. Often, data dynamically adjusts as users zoom in and out on the map. Data can be displayed on the map with markers or charts identifying numerical values for a single area. Regions can be as large as the globe or as small as a single county. Map charts show how data distributes across a specific region. When you want to show location information within your data, a map is an easy decision for data visualization. Map Charts Using Maps as a Data Visualization Tool Robbie and Jeff discussed the server performance, an idea to increase I/O throughput, and provide a little more gameplay footage, including the one moment amidst more than an hour of gameplay where the Raspberry Pi choked up while attacking zombies in an underground mine. In this video, you'll learn how to setup your own Raspberry Pi 4 Minecraft server using Pinecraft, plus Robbie and Jeff will put it to the test by having their kids join to see how it performs. Just note that at this time, Pinecraft only overclocks Raspberry Pi 4 systems. We'd love to see them test Pinecraft on several different single board computers. If this is something you'd like to see, be sure to comment on the video to let the producers know. For now, the default 32-bit will work (with the above-mentioned caveat regarding the 8 GB model).Īs a side note, while yet to be thoroughly tested, Robbie also claims Pinecraft can be run on a PINE64 RockPro64 to turn it into a MInecraft server, which is what inspired the "Pinecraft" name. Once the 64-bit version of Raspberry Pi OS Lite is available, that will be the way to go. Do not use a distro that includes a desktop interface since your Minecraft server needs all the resources of the Raspberry Pi. Robbie recommends Raspberry Pi OS Lite for this purpose, and that's what he used in the video. Once you have your hardware, flash a Debian-based server distro for your Raspberry Pi 4. Remember, Pinecraft overclocks the Raspberry Pi 4, so active cooling is highly recommended. They offer excellent airflow, and allow you to add a fan (sold separately). We carry these great open-concept SBC cases that are compatible with the Raspberry Pi 4. A case (preferably one with active cooling),.Though a 4 GB version will work just fine, as you'll see in the video below.Ī solid power supply for the Pi 4 suitable for overclocking. Our suggestion is to lean toward the 8 GB model for future-readiness since it will work with the 32-bit OS just fine for now, and then you can upgrade your software for free when it becomes available. Either a 4 GB or 8 GB model are required, although Robbie makes note that until the 64-bit version of Raspberry Pi OS Lite is released, Java (which runs the Minecraft server) can only take advantage of 4 GB RAM. In the video below, Robbie Ferguson shows us how to use Pinecraft to set up a Raspberry Pi 4 Minecraft server, along with multiplayer gameplay footage to demonstrate the performance.Ī Raspberry Pi 4. Unlike installing the vanilla java server from Mojang, Spigot promises better performance overall, and the ability to add plugins such as anti-griefing, mini-game modes, admin tools, and more. Spigot was selected as the server version to install. The Minecraft installer script is called Pinecraft. Now, with a few quick commands and a bit of compile time, you'll be up and running with your very own overclocked Raspberry Pi-powered Minecraft server. Having built, optimized, overclocked and tested a few iterations of a test server, a final default configuration was decided upon. In typical Cat5TV style, Robbie then retraced his steps and wrote a Linux script to take care of all the dirty work for you. Sure, it'll run - but can it run well? Can it replace the need to pay for 3rd party Minecraft server hosting? Robbie Ferguson and Jeff Weston from Category5 Technology TV have been wondering whether a Raspberry Pi 4 would be powerful enough to host a dedicated multiplayer Minecraft server. Video below shows how to setup your Raspberry Pi 4 Minecraft server, and demonstrates the performance, complete with in-game footage.
